There are many things that we believe in based upon what our grandparents have told and shown us; what our parents have taught us; and of course from our own experiences. Whether our grandparents and parents have taught us old folks/wives tales, myths, or traditions, we can not make it to Heaven based upon their laurels and what we understand.
For example: Anyone, such as your grandparents, parents, siblings, and extended family members, and so on, can pray for you and ask God to let you go to Heaven, but God won't allow you into Heaven solely upon their prayers regardless of how "holy" or "unholy," those individuals who prayed for you may be.
Please understand and know that it is not until YOU have established a PERSONAL relationship with GOD through His Son, JESUS CHIRST that you will be allowed to go to Heaven. You MUST have a one-on-one relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God according to God's Word, for " Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.who by no other name can you be saved." (Acts 4:10, 12, KJV) Therefore, we must read, study, and understand God's Word so that we will get to know Him, and thus, follow Him.
How about now, do you KNOW if you are going to Heaven? If not, please, read on. The following paragraphs contain information you will need to know to help you determine if you are going to Heaven. Getting to Heaven is really up to you: you have to make a decision.
There is no doubt that if you follow the words in the next paragraphs which point to God's Holy Word, the Holy Bible, and plant your faith and trust in God, and then live by what God teaches you in His Word, you will, with no doubt, know whether or not you are going to Heaven. Let's begin by first looking at God's Word.
Believe God's Book
The philosophies of the world lead to a dead end. We must accept the Word of God, the Bible, as the only immutable truth. Unless you do this, you will get lost in today's technology, many false religions, the corruption in government, and so on. One might think that the wickedness in our society would bring people closer to God (and it has in some tragic situations); but on the thought on the first paragraph, getting to Heaven begins by knowing what you believe in. We must all realize that what we believe in and where we come from helps determine our belief;, but it is the TRUE WORD of GOD that is going to determine where we end up at the end of our time here on earth.
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach" (Romans 10:8).
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the
man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).
There are more scriptures in God's Holy Word that teach us of what we should do when we believe in God. You will find that you will need to read more and more of God's Word and to study His Word to fully understand Him. At this point, you may not see why you need to read the Bible. Perhaps, reading the next section will make you more inclined to pick up a Holy Bible and begin to read His Word?
The Wages of Sin
The Apostle Paul wrote of a serious problem that all of us have which can only be solved by us reading God's Word and getting to know Him through it. First, we discover:
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:21).
"For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6 :23).
"Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof" (Roman 6:12).
Sin is what keeps us from being with God. But, if we should overcome sin through our Savior Jesus Christ, we will have "eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." One of the primary reasons to keep sin out of our lives is to go to Heaven. Now, we know that no man is perfect and is without sin (see above). So, if we will always be of sin, how can we get to Heaven. Next, we find that we must repent.
If we have not successfully passed the temptation to follow the Path of Sin, now is the time to turn from our sin. The act of turning away from sin is called repentance and this is absolutely necessary to get the gift of eternal life Paul spoke about in Romans 6:23. Do we want to be with God when this life on earth is over? Then, we must consider and ask ourselves the same question Paul had asked:
"Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering: not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?"
Therefore, we want God to lead us to repentance, if we want to go to Heaven, right? So, if we are not to sin, and in fact, we are to repent of our sin, how do we know that God still is not going to no let us go to Heaven? Because of His Grace that He bestows to us all.
By Grace...Not Works
At this point, we encounter a most curious fact--one that seems to run contrary to conventional wisdom. Paul wrote:
"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:24).
"And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work" (Romans 11:6).
"Wherefore? Because they sough it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone" (Romans 9:32).
Many people simply cannot believe that the correct way is the easiest, and furthermore, that it is free. Without a guide, many people take this wrong turn and try to pay for the eternal life they hope to receive.
Good deeds are recommended along your walk in this life, but they have no bearing on the final outcome of your journey. You see, you can't buy your way into Heaven. So, with this in mind, do you still wonder if you are going to Heaven? But wait, there is a little more you should consider before you can be sure. You must know how what you have read thus far will assure you that you are going to Heaven. You must realize that your life is valuable to God.
Yes, we all may try to do good things in this world, but we also realize that we have also done bad things in our lives--sometimes we think they are small and of minute value while at other times we know we have negatively changed the lives of others, and so on. But the fact still remains: whether we do good or bad, we still have the sinful nature to do wrong against God. We repent of this sin because of God's Grace, and wonder why God will give us His Grace and a place to live in Heaven so freely. Let us consider Christ's blood redemption.
To get something--God's Grace, Jesus Christ our Savior, a forever lifetime in Heaven--of this value for free and so easy may make a person wonder about the validity of God's offer. Rest assured that the Word of God explains all of this and will give you the answers of what you seek, but what you need to know now is why would God do all of this?
God created man with a free choice or will: to serve God or to serve himself. Man chose poorly and rebelled against God. God had already established the penalty for rebellion as eternity in hell, but He loved mankind and did not want to destroy him. The solution? God decided to send His only begotten Son into the world to live and die as a man and pay the penalty for each and everyone one of us. Jesus lived a sinless life for 33-1/2 years and then was hung on a cross by the Roman soldiers of His day. The blood he shed on that cross for us was the very blood of God and is sufficient to wash all our sins away if we request it. Jesus was buried in a tomb, but proving Himself to be God Almighty in the flesh, HE conquered death and hell and rose again from the dead. He now freely offers the same resurrection to all who will accept His death as payment for their sins. Is the picture a little better for you about God and Heaven? How about now? Will you accept His gracious offer? When speaking of Jesus, Paul wrote:
"When God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God" (Romans 3:25).
"Much more then, being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him" (Romans 5:9).
God has done a lot for us to be able to live in Heaven? And, He has made it so easy for us to accept this new way of life. However, knowing this and doing nothing towards gaining an eternal life through Christ, we are destined to hell and there we will be forever. (NOT A GOOD PLACE to LIVE...and FOREVER!!) Remember, there was a place Jesus Christ went to gain us this salvation:
Salvation at Calvary
Calvary was the name of the hill, the place where Jesus Christ, Immanuel--God with us--died to PAY for the sins of all the world. Please realize, you've come this far, and now one more step and you will enter a whole new life in Christ Jesus. It is a step of FAITH. As Paul put it:
"But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead" (Romans 4:24).
"Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification" (Romans 4:25)
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God"
"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:6).
"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:24).
"That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 5:21).
Well, there has been a lot to take in on this matter of knowing whether or not you are going to Heaven. It is coming pretty close to a time where you will have to make a decision. If you are still unsure of whether you are going to Heaven or not, let us first go back over what you should have considered in this offering of God to you so that you will know whether or not you will live in Heaven.
Are You Going to Heaven, or Not?
If you have read this far, you know that you have a need. That need is to know whether or not you are going to Heaven when you die. Let us recap on what we should have discovered so far:
We have first learned that we have to believe in God's Word, the Holy Bible, which include the letter to the Romans to guide us down the right path. We have learned that we are guilty of sin before God and that we must spend eternity in hell to pay for our sins. Then we have learned that we must repent or turn away from a life in sin to truly follow God. In other words, we must make a commitment of our will to God's will for us. Following this, we have learned that God Himself, through Jesus Christ, paid for our sins with His own blood. This cleared the way for us all to have eternal life, a life in Heaven. Now, all that's left for us to do at this point is ask for it.
"That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9, 10).
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10-13).
So you see, you have come to a point of making a decision that assures you that you can truly say that you are going to Heaven. If you have not made this decision prior to reading this text, then by now, you know for sure whether or not, and in accordance to God's Words, the Holy Bible, you are going to Heaven. And, right now, you can make that decision, live your life for Christ, and also know that you are going to Heaven when you die.
HOW ABOUT IT? Will you sincerely pray a simple prayer such as this one (below) in order to receive eternal life in Heaven?
I realize now that I am a sinner headed for eternity in hell. I know that because Jesus paid for my sins on Calvary's cross, I can be forgiven and purified, and have peace with you. I now renounce my life of serving sin and self and ask You to grant me the gift of eternal life. I thank You that You have said whosoever will may come and that included me. I thank You for saving me based solely on what Jesus did on the cross, in Jesus' Name. Amen. -Source:The Roman's Road: The Gospel of Jesus Christ.1994.
